Clare’s early training took place for three years at the London Studio Centre where she gained a diploma in musical theatre. Her first engagement after leaving college was in Pantomime, closely followed by playing the female lead on a National Tour.
Keen to travel she worked as a resident vocalist for several years at The Tulip Hotel in Oman, The Park Hotel Dubai and the The Sheraton Hotel Abu Dhabi. Her love of travel continued, working on cruise ships for Sun Cruises. Here she worked as a production vocalist, solo cabaret artiste, and had her own show in the piano bar.
On returning to the UK she played residencies at the Scandic Crown Hotel London and sang in numerous venues around the country. This involved various projects including a jazz duo, singing with bands and a one woman show she devised of songs from the shows. She was also involved in some recording projects.
Family life ensued and she decided to change direction and move into teaching. She undertook qualifications with London College of Music, Guildhall school of Music and Drama and British Theatre Dance Association. Since then she has worked for Stage Right Studios on and off since the late 90’s and The Dance College also in Royston. She has operated a successful private teaching practice through all this time and enjoys working with all age groups and abilities and has entered pupils for London College of Music musical theatre examinations.
Keen to keep abreast with industry developments, in recent years she has undertaken further training and professional development in singing teaching with Dr Gillyanne Kayes, and Jeremy Fisher of Vocal Process and Ann Leberman, Certified Master of Estill Voice Training. Clare still performs and currently sings as lead vocalist with the band Fundamental.
